Engaging Teens and Adults on a Deeper Spiritual Level

When we start teaching or participating in a Bible study, we start with the foundations. We focus on Biblical truths and the big story of the Bible. Many times, we use different tools that support the truth of the Bible, such as storybook Bibles or summarized Bible stories.

This may sound similar to the Awe and Wonder Adapted Books. When combined with sensory activities, music, games, and crafts, the Adapted Bible Curriculum from Awe and Wonder builds a strong foundation for teaching God's Word.

But what happens when students are ready for more? We've been calling this moving from Biblical Foundations to Spiritual Formation. This is a developmental milestone many teens and adults experience throughout their faith journey. They've built a foundation, maybe they've surrendered their lives to Christ, and now they want to go deeper in learning about God's Word and how to apply it to their own lives.

If this sounds like students in your ministry or home, we pray you'll consider using the Teen and Adult Curriculum from Awe and Wonder (launching July 1st!).

Biblical Text

One piece of feedback we received when beginning work on the Teen and Adult resources was that many ministries wanted a way to teach their students to read the Word of God. For this reason, our Bible Study Guide includes Bible passages in the NIrV translation. Learners can use these printed passages to really dig into scripture as they work through the questions.

Adapted Books

For participants who are ready for deeper discussion but might still benefit from simplified Bible content, the Teen and Adult Curriculum still includes the Adapted Books you are used to from Awe and Wonder. Available on 4 different developmental levels, the Adapted Books are a great tool for teaching Bible stories and Biblical truths! You can then use the Teen and Adult Bible study guides and questions to inform your discussion time!

Beyond Bible Study

Part of developing deeper spiritual formation is learning to spend time in God’s Word outside of organized study. I personally find it really helpful to have a guide for this, like a book or a study guide. This is why I love that the Teen and Adult curriculum includes a Weekly Devo that will give learners extra tools to engage with their faith throughout the week.

More From Awe and Wonder

Spiritual depth isn’t just about Bible study and prayer—it includes obedience to God’s Word. When students come to faith in Jesus, the next logical step is baptism, but some friends may need some extra preparation before getting baptized. Awe and Wonder’s Baptism Resource Kit is a great tool for this!
